The Jaguar Varsity volleyball team traveled to Storm Lake St. Mary’s to take on the Panthers on Tuesday, September 19th.   The team won by the scores of 25-14, 19-25, 29-27 and 25-19.  The team served at 95.6% overall with Castenson, Jaeschke, Cummins, Conrad, and Seil all perfect from the serving line.  Kasey Lundberg led the team with six ace serves.  Morgan Castenson had 49 assists.  Leading the offense for the night was Delaney Conrad with 12 kills.  Mady Jaeschke followed with 11.  Others contributing to the offense was Kasey Lundberg with 9 kills, Jayne Ferrari with six, Kenzie Crampton had five, and Kiertsen Fisher and Morgan Castenson had three each.  Conrad led the team with 20 saves.  Castenson had 13 saves followed by Lundberg, Lambert, and Cummins each having ten saves each.  The team averaged 18.75 saves per game. 

The Jaguars hosted a conference triangular on Thursday, September 21st with PAC (Pocahontas Area) and South Central Calhoun present.  In the first match of the night the girls lost a close match with the Indians by the scores of 16-25, 25-21, 25-23, 9-25, 12-15.  It was the first match of the year for the Jaguar squad to play five games in a match.  The team served at 95.4% with Shelby Cummins going perfect behind the line with 27 serves with three aces.  Castenson had 37 assists.  Leading the offense for the second time of the week was Delaney Conrad with 11 kills.  Mady Jaeschke had 10 kills, Kasey Lundberg had nine, Jaynie Ferrari had five and Kenzie Crampton had four.  At the net, Jaeschke led the team with five assist blocks and one ace block.  Conrad had one ace block and one assist block.  Jaynie Ferrari had two assist blocks as did Kenzie Crampton.  Cassidy Lambert led the team with 13 saves.  Cummins and Conrad had 11 saves each while Castenson and Lambert had six each.  The team averaged 10.4 saves per game. 

 

In the final match of the night, conference leader South Central Calhoun defeated the Jaguars by the scores of 20-25, 15-25, 14-25.  The team was playing defense most of the night.  SCC came in with a 28-5 record and averaged 9.62 kills per game.  The Jaguars served at 96.01% with three aces serves.  Offensively, the girls were led by Mady Jaeschke with six kills.  Conrad had four kills, Lundberg and Ferrari had three kills each.  The team averaged 6.66 kills/game. Castenson had 18 assists. Delaney Conrad had two ace blocks. Lundberg and Crampton each had one ace block.  Jaeschke and Castenson had two block assists each.  Conrad and Jaeschke led the team with nine saves each.  Castenson and Lambert had six saves each.  The team averaged 13.6 saves per game.

The team now stand 9-9 overall and 5-4 in the conference.  A statistic that has been positive throughout the whole season has been with serving.  The team leads conference with serve efficiency at 95.20% and is in the top 10 in the state overall with that statistic. 

The team faces East Sac County of Tuesday, September 26th and travels to Ogden on Thursday, September 28th.  The JVR Jaguar Invitational is on Saturday, September 30th.
