XC team competed at Humboldt

The Southeast Valley cross country teams competed at Humboldt on Monday, Sept. 18th.  Patrick Breitsprecher, ranked 14th individually in 2A, lead the Jaguars on Monday with a 6th place finish running 18:08.  Coledon Bethel also was a medalist for Southeast Valley running 19:23 to finish 28th.  Ben Carlson (67th, 20:44), Nolan Jackson (89th, 22:01) and Ben Sebring (101st, 22:39) were the other three scorers for the Jaguars.  Kaylb Crouse (113th, 23:47) and Lincoln Miller (114th, 23:49) also competed in the varsity race.

The boys scored 280 points to finish 11th overall in the 17 team field.  Humboldt won with 46 points and Clear Lake was 2nd with 59.

In the girls’ varsity race, Katara Jondle was the first Jaguar to finish, running 23:14 for 5k.  Her 27th place finish earned her medalist honors.  Alli True (51st, 24:240 was the second Southeast Valley to cross the finish followed by teammate Emily Hemmestad (89th, 26:55).  Morgan Farnham (95th, 27:08), Marlie Johnson (101st, 28:00) and Hannah Rees (104th, 28:29) rounded out the varsity runners on Thursday.

The girls finished 15th overall.  Humboldt won the meet with 31 points and Algona was second with 127 points.

Parker Johnson (24th, 22:16), Blake Peterson (48th, 23:06), Dillon Sytsma (80th, 24:10) and Jared Kastendieck (81st, 24:11) all set PRs in the boys’ JV race.  Jade Wozab (54th, 30:48) and Taegan Long (58th, 31:19) also ran season best times in the girls’ JV race.

The Jaguars will run again on Saturday, Sept. 30th at Pocahontas and then again on Tuesday, Oct. 3rd at Lake City.
