Greene County Invite

Spring Lake south of Gowrie was the site of the Greene County Invitational cross country meet on Thursday, Sept. 7th.  The Southeast Valley teams took advantage of the relatively flat course and cool weather to improve a majority of times.    

    The Jaguar girls ran first and were able to finish an impressive 5th place in the 14 school meet.  The Jags scored 138 points, just 7 behind Ogden.  Class 1A #10 ranked Panorama won the meet with 29 points and equally tough ACGC finished 2nd with 45 points.

    Katara Jondle (16th) and Sammy Alphs (17th) lead the girls’ team both dropping over 30 seconds off their career best time to run 23:09 and 23:13 respectively.  Both Jondle and Alphs were also individual medalists in a race that had 5 individual ranked runners.  Alli True (26th, 24:23), Emily Hemmestad (59th, 26:11) and Tessa Berg (68th, 26:52) were the top 5 scorers for Southeast Valley.  Morgan Farnham (70th, 26:55) and Viatris Scott (71st, 27:01) were the 6th and 7th Jaguars to cross the finish line.

    The Southeast Valley boys’ finished 9th overall with 217 points in an extremely tough boys’ race that saw 6 ranked teams in either class 1A or 2A.  2A #8 Roland Story won the meet with 50 points, followed by #5 South Hamilton with 52 points.  1A #9 Ogden and #15 ACGC finished 3rd and 4th respectively.

    Patrick Breitsprecher continued his streak of medals with his third in as many tries.  His time of 18:01 lead the Jaguars and finished 15th overall.  Coledon Bethel broke 19 minutes for the first time in his career running 18:49 for 29th place.  Ben Carlson (62nd, 20:26), Nolan Jackson (84th, 21:44), Lincoln Miller (88th, 21:55), Ben Sebring (91st, 22:02) and Kaylb Crouse (98th, 22:16) were the top 7 runners for the Jaguars.

    Those also running season best times for the Jaguars in the race on Thursday were Marlie Johnson (83rd, 27:49), Leslie Housken (104th, 31:28), Jade Wozab (108th, 33:11), Parker Johnson (104th, 22:39), Blake Peterson (112th, 23:14), Jared Kastendieck (123rd, 24:16), AJ Smith (126th, 24:19), Kyle Baird (130th, 24:29), Dillon Sytsma (142nd, 25:26), Blane Martens (151st, 26:56) and Logan Stapp (152nd, 27:07)

    Southeast Valley will have a week off before heading to Humboldt on Monday, September 18th and then Story City on Thursday, September 21st.
