7/5/17 Post-Season Play

Harcourt was the host sight for the first round of regional play.  Southeast Valley took on the Knights from Carroll Kuemper.  In a defensive battle the Jags’ were able to score the one and only run to advance to the semi-finals.  The first inning showed promise for SV as Kasey Lundberg and Morgan Casteson each singled back to back, but both would be left stranded.  Kuemper was in scoring position in the top of the 2nd as they got a runner to third.  A hard ground ball in the 5-6 hole looked like Kuemper was going to tie it up.  Jaynie Ferrari made a great backhand play and fired the ball to the plate for the tag out.  Kuemper again threatened in the third as they had runners at 2nd and 3rd but back to back ground outs to pitcher Kenzie Crampton left them there.  Finally in the 6th Castenson singled and Ackerson walked.  Castenson would be out on the force at three on the hit by Lambert.  With 2 outs and Ackerson on second Crampton put the bat on the ball and it dropped on the left field line to score Ackerson.  Jags win a close game 1-0 and for the first time since combining, the girls advance to the second round of districts.  Castenson collected 2 hits and Crampton and Lundberg had the other 2 hits of the night.  Crampton gave up 0 runs on 3 hits, walked 1 and fanned 4.
