7/8 DISTRICT 1st ROUND vs. East Sac 3-0 W (13-14)

A big first three innings propelled the Jaguars to an early 3-0 lead which was enough to secure the first round win for the Jaguar baseball team.  Junior Ace Nolan Johnson took the mound for the Jaguars as they beat the Raiders the first two contests of the season.  With postseason hopes on the line the Jags needed a huge win to keep their chances alive.  Nolan did just what he had done all season long, pitching lights out scattering five hits over all seven innings, giving up two walks and six strikeouts.  The Raiders came ready to play but with Nolan on the mound the Jags are a tough team to beat.  Getting the three runs early was huge for the Jaguars.  Getting that early lead rested on the heart of the Jags order Myles Davis and Dakota Jaeschke which will be sorely missed next year.  Myles was two for four with a huge double in the first innings scoring Jacob Sorenson for the early lead.  Myles didn’t stop there getting another RBI with two total.  Dakota wasn’t far behind going 2 for 3 with one RBI, a walk and a stolen base.

The defense was stellar, the offense did enough and the Jaguars picked up their first postseason victory of the season.  Next the Jaguars would have a tough hill to climb with last year’s state runner up contender Carroll Keumper to deal with.  They would have to play even better than this game to keep their postseason hopes alive.
