6-23 South Central Calhoun 3-2 W (9-11) (5-5)

June 26, 2017

The last game of Conference play saw the Titans from South Central Calhoun visiting the Jaguars.  The Jaguars needed this win to end at .500 on the conference slate of games.  The Jaguars sent Junior Nolan Johnson out on the mound.  The Titans snuck an early run in the first inning but the Jaguars quickly answered with two runs of their own in the second.  The young Titans answered with their own run in the next inning to even up the game at 2-2.  Going into the seventh inning the Jaguars knew they needed to score since Nolan Johnson had reached his pitch limit.   Again another one run game which saw the Jaguars finally overcoming the curse and winning this time 3 to 2 on the past ball scoring Senior Jacob Sorenson for the game winning run.  Nolan Johnson again had a stellar game throwing all seven innings giving up 6 hits on 2 runs one of which was earned.  Nolan’s success has been attributed to throwing strikes and not walking batters in this game Nolan only walked two batters and fanned 6 batters.

Offensively the Jaguars did just enough.  Leading the way was Jaxon Myers with two hits.  One of which was a huge double off the fence.  Jackson Housken added a hit which drove in a run.  Myles Davis and Nolan Johnson were the other two batters recording a hit.  It wasn’t a great night at the plate but the Jaguars finally won a close game which had been plaguing them all year.  After this game the Jaguars have had 8 one run games this year.  Of those games the Jaguars are 3 and 5 on the year so far.  A big conference win against an up and coming team was a great way to end the conference part of the Jaguars schedule.
