6-19 Newell Fonda L (7-10) (4-4)

The Jaguars first game of a busy week sent them to Fonda to take on the Newell Fonda Mustangs.  The Mustangs are one of the top teams in the conference so the Jaguars needed a huge game.  The Jaguars sent out Junior Standout Nolan Johnson on the mound and threw a gem for the Jaguars.  Nolan threw 6 innings allowing 3 hits, no earned runs and most importantly no walks while striking out four batters.  Again defense wasn’t perfect at every opportunity allowing a couple of errors and misplays with allowed the Mustangs to squeeze in two runs in the sixth inning.  The Jaguars would strike once in the seventh but struck out with runners in scoring position unable to get any runners across to tie up the game.

It was about how most games this season have gone.  The Jaguars have had 8 one run games this season and in those games they are 2 and 6.  With more games coming this week and more opportunities, this would not be the last time the Jaguars would have a tight ballgame.  Offensively for the Jaguars walks were plenty but big hits were not.  The Jaguars recorded an amazing 10 walks in the game but just couldn’t get a big hit with runners in scoring position.  The Jags could only muster two hits in the contest.  The two hitters were Coledon Bethel and Jaxon Myers who each had a hit a piece.
