5/26 West Central Valley W (2-2)

The Jaguars journeyed to far away Stuart Iowa to battle the Wildcats of West Central Valley to finish up their last game of the 1st week of action.  The Jaguars were quick to get on the scoreboard scoring one run in the first inning while scoring five and four in the second and third.  That was all the scoring the Jaguars needed as they secured the win under the 10 run rule in the 5th inning.

Defense was a huge benefit to the Jaguars on the night as Junior Nolan Johnson took the mound and threw a gem to the Jaguars.  Johnson only allowed 2 hits throughout the five innings while getting some great help defensively on some terrific plays from Jackson Housken.  Jackson made the game ending catch even after colliding with left fielder Nolan Brand while Junior Jaxon Myers made a terrific throw to third base after right fielder Daven Rees tracked down a well hit ball.  Grabbing the throw from Daven, Jaxon gunned the runner who was going for a triple out at third base after a laser throw.

The Jaguars couldn’t stop running and stealing all night as they as a team had 9 steals among them.  Nolan Johnson had 3 of those 9 team steals while scoring three times.  Sophomore Jackson Housken was the multiple hit leader for the Jaguars getting some big time hits which drove in a game high three RBI’s.  The Jags even up their record to 2-2 while taking a nice break over memorial day weekend  before coming back facing tough opponents Sioux central on Wednesday, Humboldt on Thursday, and finishing up with Manson NW Webster on Friday.
